The Edge
Day by day,
night by night,
subtle changes
take me farther,
till all at once,
I'm so far away,
home is out of sight.
I find a land,
like no other,
where wrong and right,
dance together.
On a one-way ride,
to unknown places,
unfamiliar names and faces,
adventures begin,
as games of imagination,
and with the night,
take on form, shape, and strength.
Thoughts become deeds.
Games become chains.
These become needs.
There is no turning back.
I steer toward,
the brightest star,
in the heavens,
the one surrounded by,
the darkest sky.
Afloat in blackness,
a small world,
lonely and cold,
light one side,
dark, the other,
there up becomes down.
Night and day,
the dance goes on.
Little remains of
what I was.
Lunacy, sanity, tangle me.
Tight and wrong,
become each other.
Gravity pulls me down.
Tiny world spins around.
The star gets no closer,
but it's light,
reaches my eyes and gives me,
strength, and hope, and sight.
